Hello everyone and happy Monday! At least Monday started out with sunshine even though it will be ending with rain. I’ve been so tired of rain, rain, rain but fingers crossed that today will be the end of it. My weekend was crazy busy and went way too quickly.
The weekend started off early with a day at Pimlico Race Course for Preakness on Friday that my awesome blogger bestie, Kim, invited me to the event. Many thanks to Dan at America’s Best Racing for organizing the event. I had so much fun snapping away on snapchat throughout the day so follow me there if you haven’t done so already! (mslabellemel). As for my outfit, I went all navy from my peplum top to my palazzo pants as well as my bag and fascinator–and what a fun event to be able to wear my first fascintor!
Outfit: Forever 21 top (old/similar) // Forever 21 bottom (old/similar) // Balenciaga bag // fascinator from ebay (love this one too!) // Chloe sandals (old/love this)Baublebar necklace (old/have this version/love this version) // Tom Ford sunnies
Since this was my first horse race ever, I didn’t know what to expect. I spent most of the time eating and watching the races before I placed my first bet on race 12. On the whim, I decided to split the bet between two horses and my horse won the race! It was super exciting and I was able to walk away with some good winnings. To place a bet, you would go up to the counter and say I want $5 WIN on (horse number) etc. WIN is if you want to bet that your horse will be the winner of the race. You can do PLACE if the horse comes in second and SHOW if the horse comes in second or third. The way you say the order is important so that the people behind the counter won’t need to second guess your bets. Unfortunately for me, I wanted to say WIN for my horse, but I said PLACE instead. Ah well, lesson learned but I was still happy to walk away a winner. =P
The event makes me want to go back to horseback riding again and really take some lessons to learn. One of these days for sure! Anyway thanks for reading everyone and have a great day!
