Casual Friday Workwear | Denim on Denim

Happy casual Friday and the first day of spring! Can you believe that we are having snow right now? Hopefully it will be the last of it and then warm weather ahead. I am jumping for joy inside.

Anyway, so more and more companies have been loosening their corporate policy and instilling casual Friday Those companies who haven’t yet I would typically avoid only because they would be too conservative for my taste and I know we just wouldn’t mesh well. For those who don’t know what that is, having a casual Friday meant that you could wear jeans to work, however, it doesn’t have to be boring. You can still have so much fun with styling denim for the day.

For my casual Friday, I wanted to play with denim on denim and have been doing so for some time although this would be the first time I had featured it on my blog. For this look, I went with a slim-fit chambray top with a high-waisted denim pencil skirt. I added a colorful scarf to break up the look and some tan pumps and a crossbody bag to jazz up the look. The denim skirt is a little thin for my taste but perfect for warm weather. This might work to my attention because I may slim down the sides for a more tapered look. The thing that drew my attention the skirt was the button high-waisted part which I absolutely love. Having a slit in the back of a pencil skirt is the norm for business wear so I would try to avoid a front slit to keep it still work appropriate.

When I was in Florence, I was at the Prada store looking at the micro double-zip bag and had been contemplating getting one for a few years now. I was pretty close to buying it, but there was one thing that I couldn’t get on board with and that were the straps. When carrying the bag by the handles, the straps laid really far from the bag, not flat against it and I just didn’t like that. So I decided to pick up a wallet instead.

Anyway, when I was in Nordstrom the other week, I happened upon Tory Burch Robinson’s micro double-zip bag and was sold. I got it in the tan version since the color is so versatile to go with any outfit and I could wear it all year long. I love that the leather is saffiano which makes it durable for everyday wear. I even accidentally spilled tea on it and was able to wipe it off with no problems to the bag. The bag also comes in a light blue and pink color as well. As you can see, my crossbody bag addiction is still going strong. =P
