Airport Style | Flared Cropped Trench + Gathered Skirt

Hey everyone! Whenever I travel, I try to wear items that are super comfortable as well as carrying a scarf or cardigan with me to keep me warm during flights. They always seem to crank up the AC on the plane and I can never be too warm. If I could take a blanket with me, I would.

So for my short & early flight to Chicago, I paired this gathered skirt below, which I bought two versions–one from H&M and the other from Forever 21, with my still-fave ASOS sweater. I kinda wish I had my F21 skirt instead, because the H&M was a bit too loose that I had to keep adjusting the skirt while walking–ah well, lesson learned. This crop trench was a random find at a consignment shop in Bethesda when I had time to kill before my bikram yoga class. I rarely go to consignment shops because I usually never find anything there. And with any consignment shops, you typically only find one size there, so unfortunately it was a size too big. Thank goodness there was an extra discount that day to justify the purchase. For the time being, I can make do, but I like to make a few adjustments on it before deeming it a perfect fit. Overall, it’s been a great trench to throw over any outfit. As for my crossbody bag, it’s been my go-to for spring and probably summer. I’ve talked about it more in my spring favorites video.

Also if any of you are frequent travelers, I highly highly recommend getting global entry. It saved me so much time especially during this trip to Chicago, which I misjudged the time and had 30 mins to rush from parking to gate with 10 minutes to spare. Thank goodness for global entry or I would’ve missed my flight. It took me about two weeks from pre-application approval to a very short interview and I had my pass ID number to add to my flight reservations. Global entry has TSA pre-check, which for an extra $15 allows you to travel nationally & internationally without having to worry about lines at the security checkpoint. You don’t have to take off your shoes, your jacket or your laptop out of its case. Total time-saver and the card lasts you for five years which comes out to be $20 a year–a definite no-brainer if you ask me to save the time and hassle going through the security lines.

Outfit: BCBG crop trench (cute classic crop trench here) // ASOS bonjour sweater (old) // H&M skirt (similar) // Sole Society pumps // Rebecca Minkoff bag // Anne Klein watch (old) // David Yurman bracelet // Chloe sunnies

Thanks for reading and have a great one!

  1. That purse is gorgeous! I love wearing a good pair of baggy jeans because my legs are always code and for some reason I feel like they are protected from all the germs on planes these days. Scarfs and big sweaters are a must even its the summertime.
