My Current Haircare Routine & Tips on Healthy Hair

Hey everyone! Its been awhile since I last talked about my haircare routine that I don’t even remember when was the last time. Anyways, thought I let you take a peak into my shower to see what products I have been loving and what products I have been trying out when it comes to my hair.

Before I get into it, I wanted to talk about my haircare routine. I am one of the few who washes my hair everyday. I just love the clean feeling to my hair and I never have a bad hair day because of that. I air dry my hair everyday as well and it dries pretty straight and smooth. There will be rare occasions that I will leave my hair unwashed the next day but only because I had to film a hair tutorial.

Since I do wash my hair everyday, I do take an extra step into making sure that every few nights, I’d treat my scalp with extra nourishment which I will talk about a little bit more after the jump. I also like to switch up my shampoo and conditioner between two products but not more than three so that my hair doesn’t get too used to one product.

  1. Clear Shampoo & Volumizing Conditioner–I have been using these products for more than a year and have always gone back to repurchase. Since I wash my hair everyday, it’s good to have a product that does not build up and still leaves my hair feeling light and clean.
  2. Shu Uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo & Moisture Velvet Conditioner–my luxury brand of hair care products that I absolutely love. Ever since my friend, Rae, talked about the products few years back here and here, I was definitely intrigued to try them out. I purchased a set and was sent another set to try and was hooked instantly. I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to even talk about the products. The scent is amazing and always leaving my hair feeling refreshed and light. Because the products are a bit pricey, I tend to use it about once a week to prolong the use of the products.
  3. Belegenza Grow Out Shampoo, Romance Deep Conditioner, Grow Out Scalp Treatment–I was given the opportunity to try out these products to see if I could help my hair growth along. If you didn’t know, I am actually trying to grow my hair out so I can donate 8-10″ come October/November. I’ve been using the shampoo and the scalp treatment every other day and the conditioner about once a week. Currently, Gloss48–an online beauty site that curates must-have niche products daily, is launching the Belengeza products today. Head over there and use MEL48 to get $10 off purchases of $30+.
  4. Giovanni 2chic Brazilian keratin & argan oil leave-in conditioner–a pretty wordy name but love that it gives my scalp nourishment. I’ve talked about it before in my how to survive winter arctic beauty products and am still loving the product. I typically use this during my bikram session where the heat will give my scalp additional help in opening up the pores and letting the product work its magic.

Tips on Healthy Hair

  • I rarely blow dry and just let my hair air-dry, but if you must use heat styling, always be sure to use a heat-tamer spray to protect it first.
  • I also never comb my hair when it’s wet. Your hair is weakest at that stage so always be careful if you do brush to be gentle to avoid damaging hair. Also helps to use a wide-tooth comb to detangle hair in the shower when you condition it.
  • On the occasions that I go to hair salons for haircuts, I ask them to always cut with scissors and no razor motions–this will help keep split ends at bay.
  • Like your skin, hair needs moisturizing too such as the scalp, so once a week, I would use a deep treatment mask that has argan oil or coconut oil mask to treat hair and scalp.

Anyways, have you ladies use any of these products above? I love to hear your thoughts! As always, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
