Feeling Blue: Print Shift Dress & Man Repeller

Last night, I attended Leandra Medine’s book signing event at the W Hotel POV Rooftop Lounge. Leandra recently launched her first book called Seeking Love, Finding Overalls where she recounts all the humorous and weird events that led her to who she is today. Although the weather was not the best yesterday, there was still a great attendance last night, so special thanks to BrandlinkDC for putting this event together.

I’ve heard of Leandra’s blog “the Man Repeller” from time to time although not an avid reader, so I did a little research yesterday before attending the event to learn about the blogger herself. As I read more about Leandra, I was immediately drawn to her quirkiness personality and love for fashion. I also love how her blog got started from one single concept, which grew and exploded over the past few years. It was also endearing reading through her relationship with her newlywed husband to see the dynamic relationship between the duo.

For my outfit last night, I wore this shift dress I saw on Piperlime few weeks back and was immediately drawn to the print and colors. I don’t know about you, but colors play hand in hand with my mood. If I want to feel cheery that day, I know I will want to wear something bright. For the past few weeks, blue seems to fit my mood as of late.

When ordering things online especially from an unknown brand, fit can always be a bit tricky and sometimes end up being a little disappointed that I have to send something back due to fit. But since Piperlime has such a great delivery/return policy, it made trying on different brands less of a hassle.

As for the fit of this dress, there are certainly some elements on the dress that I could have altered, such as the shoulder area taken in and the sides slimmed down a bit, to get a better fit. Also, for those who do not have narrow hips like me, the width of the dress is a little tricky to slide over your hips, making you do the wiggle dance. Other than that, I love how the dress feels and didn’t take much effort to style it.

The rain the past few days and also looks to be going into the weekend seems to fit my mood lately as well. I could definitely use a bit of sunshine, so let’s hope the sun surprises us soon and lift up the next few dreary days.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Also thanks to a few girls last night who recognized me from my blog and said Hi! I am horrible with names, so feel free to tweet me and let me know what your blog is, so I can browse during lunch. =)

Alright, have a great Thursday everyone!
