Instamix: NYFW S/S14

Hey everyone! I must forewarn you that I drove home late Sunday and didn’t get back until after 2am. I had to get ready for work next day at 7am and was so sleepy the whole day. As I am writing this post late last night, please forgive me for being incoherent in any way.

Anyways, this past Thursday, I drove up to NYC for NYFW to meet up with KL and had a blast. Then, Linda came up later Saturday and hung out with us until Sunday. Although the trip was great, I have to admit that my feet were killing me after all the walking and Wendy said it best when she said “heels were not meant for walking.” Ain’t that the truth.

So, let me give you a quick run down of the last four days before I completely zonk out for the rest of the night.

I drove up Thursday and got to our hotel room near Times Square around 3-ish and of course we wanted to see if we could get good tickets to watch a show. But before we got to the ticket stage, it was an awesome surprise to see Jean’s Ann Taylor ads spread near the store–absolute love.

As we were browsing through the titles of broadway shows, KL mentioned that she recalled seeing Phantom as a play years ago, so it was a no-brainer for her to catch Phantom on Broadway. It was just as good as I remembered seeing it many years ago and of course, KL was mesmerized by the costumes and songs and definitely remarked that it was nothing like the play she remembered. After the show, I took KL across the river to Jersey to see the beautiful NYC skyline and that ended our night.

The next day, we got brunch then drove over to Mitsuwa to grab some goodies. I had to stock up on more bobby pins as well as these green tea hard candies that my friend introduced to me few months ago and I made it a point to pick up some. KL finished the whole bag within a day or so–don’t think the other three bags will last a month. Then afterwards, I had to take her to Laduree, of course, which came out with a cute Fall print box that was perfect to hold glasses or lip products.

Saturday, we woke up early to get to Lincoln Center and was able to catch the Jill Stuart show with KL’s friend, Chinaza. She was such a sweet girl and such determination–definitely look out for her name some day as a future fashion designer. =) As for the show, everything looked amazing and of course, more photos on that later.

After the show, KL and I were both hungry and decided to get some lobster roll at Luke’s Lobster. That place was simply amazing and thank goodness that we have a location near the DMV area, because I am so hankering for another lobster roll after writing this post.

Then Linda met up with us later and took us to Juniors near Times Square for some amazing cheesecake–so creamy and mouth-watering goodness. The place was a little hard to find, but right next to the Lion King stage. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by. You won’t regret it. Afterwards, I had to rush down to meatpacking district for some backstage with MAC before going back to hotel to freshen up and head out to dinner with Jessica, Evelina, KL and Linda.

Sunday, KL had to leave us for Houston and Linda and I said our goodbyes, then went around the city to do a little shopping before the RewardStyle party at Empire Hotel. It was good to catch up with Wendy and Kelly as well as some of the DC bloggers. After the party, I went straight to Morimoto dinner hosted by Glam and look who I bumped into? Mel and I have been Youtube buddies for a long time and never had the chance to get together after so many years. She looked just as amazing in person and such a sweetheart–so glad we were able to connect there!

Anyways, a few days prior to driving up to NYC, I received a foodie book of the top 100 restaurants worldwide from Glam and of course, Morimoto was listed as one of them. I was super excited to try out the restaurant and have to thank the girls at Glam for doing a fantastic job putting the event together. I also met some great blogger ladies while I was there like Mollie, Alyson and Lindsey and as well as caught up with Liz and Caitlin. Unfortunately, dinner was served late and I had to skip out on dessert to drive back home to MD, hence the late Instamix post.

Overall, I had such a great time during the whole trip and already missing everyone. I definitely took some photos while I was up there, so look out for several posts as I go through and sort them out for posting. Alright, I hope you all have a great one and I’ll chat with you in a later post.
