Hey everyone! This is a scheduled post since hubs and I hopped on a plane to Cancun yesterday morning and currently celebrating our 5-year (together for 10) wedding anniversary at a resort until Monday. I can’t believe it’s been 5-years already. That’s just crazy. In celebration of that as well, I’ve enlisted my good friend, Stefani, to help me shoot this stylized anniversary session below with me and hubs.
Believe it or not, this shoot was shot back in April when the cherry blossoms were just about blooming. However, they were late at the time of our shoot, so we were only able to find one or two lonely trees. And to top it all off, it was about 40 degrees that day — way too cold to be in dresses, but I mustered what I could to not look freezing in the photos. I think the photos still turned out great!
Outfit: dress 1: BCBG silk chiffon dress (navy version); dress 2: Ivory Rose Dress; shoes: Badgley Mischka Adele Natural; accessories: pearl necklace (old); flower clip (old) and charlotte russe belt (old)
When I was looking for outfits for the shoot, I knew I wanted something whimsical to go with the whole session look. This BCBG silk chiffon dress was actually my dancing dress during my wedding and I was happy that I could use it again five years later. It included all my fave details–chiffon and pleats–what’s not to love? I have always been a big fan of BCBG as evident here and here–the cut and sizing always seem to fit me a little better than others, so I naturally veer more towards the brand.
My second outfit in rose details, chiffon and cream was such a dreamy combo for a romantic look. The dress tied very well to the shoes as well in the same color combo. And this shoot was definitely not complete without my love for macarons and scrabble (WWF anyone?) =)
For flowers, it was a no-brainer to include peonies and also this exotic looking flower called the King Protea. I tweeted a pic of it several months ago prior to the shoot to see if anyone knew the name of it. Finally after the fourth or fifth call to a florist, I was able to find one who knew what it was based on my descriptions and immediately put my order for pick-up and arranged them myself.
Overall, I am satisfied with how everything turned out and I hope you liked the sneak peeks! For more photos, feel free to head over to my photoblog to see the full anniversary session.
Anyways, when we get back Monday night, hubs is flying out the next day to Chicago and will be living there for five months. This will be the first time that we’ll be living apart and although, Chicago’s only an hour flight away — that just seems too far. And just when I was getting used to him leaving for one night, I have to now get used to not seeing him for five months — oy.
Well, that only means more trips to Chicago in the next couple of months and I am looking forward to that. I hear Chicago is beautiful during the summer times. Anyways, back to Cancun’s sandy beaches and sightseeing. I hope you all have a great Friday!
