The Challenge: Candy Colorized
Take a bowl full of colorful candies (M&Ms, Jolly Ranchers, jelly beans, etc.), close your eyes, and draw 2-3 pieces. Now use those colors (+ a neutral of your choosing) to form the basis for your ensemble.
I love candy – maybe a little too much and when SewPetiteGal suggested a candy-colorized lookbook for PFC #17 challenge, I could not pass it down. I also just so happened to have two bags of M&M’s in the fridge and please don’t ask me how they got there. =P
As you can see below, I’ve chosen two colors – yellow and orange – but just for fun, I’ve added a third color to the mix. More after the jump. =)
I absolutely love this top from H&M but the tunic length of this makes the top very awkward to work with. You can also see me style it another way here. And because this mint color is so pretty, I may take it to a tailor and have her chop off the length for me – we’ll see.
So for the chosen candy colors, I paired together the coral color of the shorts to represent orange and the bag for the yellow, but I couldn’t help adding mint to the mix. They all seem to work nicely together – don’t you think?
top: H&M; bottom: F21 (similar); bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar); shoes: Cynthia Vincent for Target (similar); accessories: J.Crew dupe bubble necklace; jewelmint twilight bow (lost =/), h&m, fornash, mk bracelets; michele watch
Ever since I twitpic this J.Crew bubble bib necklace six months ago after shopping with a friend of mine, I absolutely adored it. However, I couldn’t justify the price of this necklace, especially being such a trendy piece. When I found this “Imperfectly Perfect” etsy store online by chance making an exact dupe of the necklace in several colors, I bought two – one in the coral above and the other in turquoise. Both for fraction of the price and discounted further after a coupon code – not too shabby.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed this post and I had so much fun putting this together. I cannot wait to see what the other girls have done for this candy-color adventure.
