Personal MicroDerm (PMD) Quick Tutorial and Review

Few weeks ago, the folks at Personal MicroDerm (PMD) reached out to me to see if I wanted to try out the unit. Already having heard amazing things about it, I was more than happy to say yes. It’s funny too because I was already contemplating purchasing the unit, but wanted to find a good price online, so many thanks to PMD for the opportunity!

I’ve taken this straight from the website on what it means to have a microdermabrasion done:

“Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive form of exfoliation and mild skin resurfacing that removes the dead skin cells from the Stratum Corneum, the outer most layer of the skin. The Stratum Corneum is the layer of the skin affected by fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, acne, and scaring. The concentrated microdermabrasion treatment exfoliates this skin layer to break apart these common imperfections. This then triggers the body’s healing mechanisms, causing the removed dead skin cells to be rapidly replaced with healthy, new ones.”

Once I got the unit, I immediately opened the box and watched the CD first. Even though I’ve seen a couple of reviews on Youtube, I still wanted to make sure that I was doing it right because it kinda looked scary online. I wasn’t sure how it would feel on my skin. Now looking back, I am not sure why I didn’t do a test run on my hand first before going straight to face – lol. Silly me. Thankfully, nothing bad happened.

You can watch the video for a quick tutorial below:

I must admit that I have never done a microdermabrasion at the spa before due mainly to the cost. I just checked the price at a local spa nearby and an individual microdermabrasion session costs about $135 and I’m sure that the cost goes up in other areas. The cost of one PMD is $179 and with the 25% code ‘MsLaBelleMel’ valid for two weeks from today that the company generously offered for my viewers and readers, which brings down the cost to $134.25 including free ship. Hmm, so after looking at both prices, you would get a PMD unit that you can use for years to come for the same price of one session at a spa. I don’t know about you, but I think the PMD looks like much better purchase for the money in the end.

The box comes with 7 other tips as well ranging from blue and green tips for the face and body. Once your skin gets resilient to the unit, you can move up to the blue and then the green. There is also a red tip available for purchasing and the cost of tip replacements is only $15 – not bad for a recurring purchase.

Few pointers when using the unit:

    1. If your skin is sensitive, start off with the white tip already on the unit
    2. Always start with a cleansed face
    3. Pull skin taut with fingers and place unit straight on to create a suction effect
    4. Press down gently and guide the unit in upward motion, never downward
    5. Then tone, use serum and moisturizer daily
    6. Always use sunscreen in the morning to protect your new layer of skin!

I use this unit about once a week and going on my third week, I can’t help but keep touching my face because it is so smooth. I also noticed that my skincare products work amazingly well on my face and in the morning, I’ve seen such a glow to my skin. Even my coworker commented on my skin the other day and quote “it looks soft and fluffy like a pillow”. I going to take it to mean that it’s smoother since the word “buttery” was also used – LOL.

So far, I am loving the results it gave to my skin and believe me when I tell you that I will be using this unit until it goes kaput on me. I hope it never breaks on me though, but if it does, will definitely be purchasing another unit! I also love the versatility of it since you can use it for both face and body just by switching out the tip and cap included in the box. Since I use this unit only once a week, I do use the Clarisonic Mia to cleanse my skin thoroughly 2-3x a week.

Prior to using PMD, I have to admit that I was definitely a skeptic in the beginning, but once using this product, I am a believer now – lol. I can see why so many other youtubers love PMD. I hope this review was helpful for you all! If you have any questions, feel free to comment below. I will continue to update this post if I forget anything. Also stay tuned in a week or so for a giveaway as well! I love it so much that I bought another to give away and just waiting on the product to arrive before posting up the details.

As always, thanks for reading!
