Jen Frmheadtotoe Visits NYC

I’ve been to NYC now 3x in the past two weeks or so – talk about craziness! However, when Jen had mentioned that she was flying over to the East Coast for her new job training, I couldn’t say no to coming up and meeting up with her. Jean from Extrapetite and Khatu decided to come down from Boston for the fun. They took the train/bus to NYC Saturday morning but I couldn’t drive up until that night due to a previous wedding shoot that I had booked for the day. That was the plan anyways.

Well, do I have a story for you. I was all ready to leave at 9:30pm on the dot until I started putting my wedding equipment gear away. I closed the trunk after rummaging through the stuff and walked to the driver seat. Realizing that I forgot to put something away in the trunk, I walked back around and realized, wide-eyed, that I had locked my keys in the trunk! I panicked and did not know what to do! I called hubby quickly but then realized he was still on the plane flying back from Chicago. I had no idea who else to call and I was in VA – 40 mins from home in MD. Finally I tried out the Acura Care that comes with the extended warranty and thank goodness they were able to get someone out within 40 mins. They had quoted me it could take as long as 90 mins. The guy came on time and he was so nice and helped jack my car open. So ladies, if you have an Acura, I know how to open it as long as I have all the right equipment – haha. Moral of the story – be sure to open the driver’s door before popping the trunk open.

Ok, I digress, back to the trip! I got in a little after 2am and the girls were just coming back from a night out into the city. We decided to stay at the Waldorf Astoria which is gorgeous! I mean talk about luxury. Who has Salvatore Ferragamo shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom? You don’t? I stock them all the time in mine! LOL – I kid, of course. =P The hotel has all the extremities you’d want as well as a big spread of breakfast buffet in the morning for a little extra, shopping on the main floor and Guerlain spa. Who could ask for anything more? Anyways, by the time we got into the room, everyone was exhausted so we all got ready for bed.

Next morning we headed to Ippudo where Mona met up with us. But seriously, where else could serve us some deliciously-awesome pork buns to eat while we wait, right?

After Ippudo, we had to hurry back to the hotel and check out. We placed our stuff in my car before trekking to Times Square for Jen’s very first time. Jean and Khatu wanted to check out the F21 store there, so Jen and I explored the area and did a mini shoot while we’re at it. =)

After Times Square, we walked back to the car and saw Jean and Khatu off for their 3pm bus back to Boston. Then headed back to Times Square again to do a little shopping at F21. Next up, we took the subway to Union Square and met up with Mona again who took us around her neighborhood and stopped in at Zara and H&M for some more shopping. To end the night in NYC before heading back, we had dinner at The Mermaid Inn in East Village since Jen had a hankoring for some raw oysters. Thank goodness it was happy hour around the time and we were able to get oysters for $1 a piece. I’ve never had raw oysters ever in my life and decided to try it out for the first time. Check out the video for my reaction. Although the oysters were great and fresh, Jen still loved the ones in Boston. I’ll have to keep that in mind next time I’m ever in the area. Another thing to try are the lobster rolls – yummy big chunks of lobsters in every bite – delish!

We finally made the drive back after dinner before stopping first to see the gorgeous skyline of NYC near waterfront at Hoboken, NJ. This was my first time seeing the skyline this late at night and it was such a gorgeous view – wow.

We made our final stop at Mitsuwa before driving back to Jen’s train station. It was an amazing day in NYC and I always love visiting it. I swear I should be living there with all the many visits I’ve made last year and this year. Anyways. I hope you all enjoyed our adventure and Jen, be sure to come back to NYC soon and visit again!
