In Dedication to Margarita

If you’ve been following me on twitter, you would know that my good friend from college passed away last Sunday. We actually didn’t find out until Tuesday when she didn’t come in on her first day of work at her new job. Some friends nearby tried to call her but couldn’t reach her and had the police knock down her apartment and found her in the bathroom. The examiner said that she had some sort of infection which led to heart arrhythmia and passed away with no pain.

I still can’t believe that she’s not with us anymore and thank God everyday that we were able to cross paths. There will be no one like her who had such spirit, such energy and such love for others. She’s reminding us now more than ever to live life to the fullest.

Below is a description of Marge and a few wisdom to share in her words:

“One sentence to sum me up: I’m a left-handed Gemini who’s got OCD (only child disorder) and is FOBulous.”

“If I had to put an ad in the classifieds it would read: Single hot sauce seeking sweet and tender BEEF for friendship and maybe more..likes long walks on the beach..long talks on life and love..long tortang talong and.. “

Things She believes in:

1. Whether good or bad, everything happens for a reason. We may not be clear on what that reason is but in the end there definitely is (at least) one.

2. Living life to the fullest and trying everything at least once…nothing to lose, and experience to gain.

3. Love bugs don’t like bitter melons. Hurt comes with loving but don’t let it break you.

4. Don’t be afraid of change, it’s the only thing that’s constant in life.

5. Stay positive and it’ll work out…people have this great power to affect the outcome of things around them. We all need to be more aware of this.

6. We can all learn a lot from each other..but it’s going to take an open mind and lots of communication. So, let’s talk…

Who She Would Want to Meet:

“cool people who love life, people I can learn from, people who are very different from me, people I have many things in common with, people that I can help, people who are down for whatever, people who get my sense of humor, people to hang out and goof around with…and I mean really GOOF around with!”

Here’s a video that truly captures her personality from her bday in May. We had put together a skit to surprise her and wanted her to do her famous cheer for the opening ceremony of ECASU conference.

I found out later that she was a karaoke fiend and my only regret was that we didn’t get to sing more together so here’s a song in dedication to Marge:

You can visit her fan page if you want to know more about her.

As said during her funeral – the heaven cried when she was born and now the people on earth cried when she returned home. Life’s way too short so let’s not take the ppl around you for granted. Make sure you take a moment and let them know how much you love them.

I’ll miss you Marge!!
I wish I had just a little more time to spend with you.
Love Always, Mel =**(
